I’m with someone but not married. Do I need a will?
If you have a life partner but are not legally married (meaning there is not marriage certificate), it is imperative to have a will. If you do not have a will, an unmarried partner will not receive anything. The state will instead give all your assets to your closest relative.
For assistance in writing a will, contact the Austin estate planning lawyers of Slater, Kennon & Pugh LLP.
